Bridging cultures through education.
We’re proud to announce the launch of the Summer School on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism, jointly organized by the Department of Ancient World Studies at Sapienza University of Rome and the UNESCO Chair on Higher Education for Sustainable Development in Africa at the University of La Manouba. Aimed at fostering international collaboration and knowledge building, this initiative is part of the Share Africa Project, led by the Foundation for Italian Higher Education with Africa (IHEA) and supported by the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
The opening ceremony, held on September 15, was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, underscoring the strong support of both Tunisian and Italian institutions for the initiative. Among the attendees were: H.E. Alessandro Prunas, Ambassador of Italy to Tunisia; Dr. Malek Kochlef, Director General of International Cooperation at the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Eugenio Gaudio, President of the IHEA Foundation; Prof. Ameur Cherif, President of the University of La Manouba; Prof. Jouahina Gherib, Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair on Higher Education for Sustainable Development in Africa; Prof. Gianfilippo Terribili, BEP Programme Coordinator at Sapienza University of Rome.
Their participation highlighted a shared commitment to advancing sustainable development and cultural cooperation through higher education. The intensive programme brings together experts, trainees, and stakeholders from various countries to explore innovative approaches that integrate the enhancement of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage with the promotion of responsible and sustainable tourism.
This initiative represents a concrete step toward strengthening academic cooperation between Tunisia, Italy, and the broader African continent, while engaging a new generation of professionals. View on Instagram
